Incoming TE Consideration and Enrollment at Detroit Mercy
Application process, procedures, and timeline for eligible employees for Incoming TE Consideration and Enrollment at Detroit Mercy.
Note: Children of 大象传媒 employees would not apply to tuition exchange programs if they are incoming to 大象传媒. Please follow the tuition remission process through HR.
大象传媒 awards FACHEX, Tuition Exchange and CIC Tuition Exchange based upon a competitive review of all certified applicants, using the student’s entire freshman application file, which includes high school academic record, standardized test scores (if submitted), leadership/service activities, and essay. The information below is pertinent for students entering the Fall 2024 Detroit Mercy’s freshman class.
- Apply for freshman admission to 大象传媒 by December 1. A completed application for freshman admission must be received (postmarked) by 大象传媒’s freshman application deadline of December 1. 大象传媒 offers a free online application. A completed freshman application consists of the application and submitted official high school transcripts. Submitting ACT/SAT scores is optional for admission consideration. A student must be admitted to University of Detroit Mercy to be considered for a FACHEX or TEP award. Please note that eligibility certification does not automatically qualify you for admission nor does an offer of admission mean that a FACHEX or TEP award will be extended.
- Transfer students may be considered later.
- Request TE eligibility certification from your home institution’s liaison officer by February 1. The liaison officer will submit this certification electronically through the proper website. This certification must be submitted to 大象传媒 by March 1.
- File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. We recommend submission of the by February 1. Applying for financial aid is required for TE consideration as financial aid programs may assist students with housing costs or make it financially possible to attend 大象传媒 if not offered a TE award.
- TE Review and Notification – March-May: These awards are competitive, and merit based. Decisions for these awards are based entirely on the credentials included in the student’s admission application to 大象传媒. Initial award notifications are typically made in early March of the senior year. All admitted eligible students will receive notification of their standing, whether they have been offered an award, have been placed on the wait list, or have not been offered an award.
- Submit Tuition & Housing Deposit by May 1: If you plan to enroll at 大象传媒, the non-refundable $300 tuition and housing deposit must be submitted by the May 1, enrollment deposit deadline. If a student submits a deposit and then receives a TE award, the tuition deposit will be credited toward other 大象传媒 student fees.
- Accept or Decline Award: If an award is extended to you, please notify 大象传媒 as soon as possible of the decision to accept or decline the TE award. Information on how to accept/decline the award and the deadlines will be included with the award letter.
General Information about University of Detroit Mercy tuition exchange Awards:
These awards are not automatically granted nor guaranteed to eligible children of employees of participating institutions. Recipients are selected upon competitive and merit-based review.
Detroit Mercy gives preference to new freshman applicants. Students currently attending 大象传媒 without a tuition exchange award who remain eligible/become eligible for one of the programs during their enrollment will be placed on a waiting list for any available awards not filled by new freshmen applicants. Certification of eligibility must be received by the liaison (meeting same deadlines as freshman applicants) to be placed on this waiting list. Transfer students may be considered TEP or FACHEX at 大象传媒 but preference will be given to new full-time first-time students.
Terms and Conditions for Tuition Exchange Award Continuation:
The tuition exchange award applies to any of 大象传媒's undergraduate programs except for our accelerated programs. Award recipient must remain eligible to return to 大象传媒 each semester, maintain continuous, full-time enrollment, enroll in and complete at least 12 credits each semester, meet the usual academic and other requirements for admission to, and retention by, the university and college or school, remain in good academic and disciplinary standing with the university, and meet university Satisfactory Academic Progress standards.
The parent/guardian who serves as the eligible employee for the tuition exchange award must remain eligible for the benefit at the employing institution and have certification of eligibility submitted annually.
TE award recipients are expected to complete their undergraduate degree in four years (8 semesters) and are not ordinarily eligible for tuition remission for longer than four years. The exception to this would be students enrolled in programs that require greater than 120 credit hours to graduate.
The TE award covers the additional tuition fee if students enroll in more than 18 credits per semester.
Tuition Exchange awards can be applied to summer and part-time but will count towards their term usage. Awards do not cover part-time, summer studies, or graduate studies, nor do they cover student fees, room, meal plan, books or other school-related expenses.
TE awards to first-time entering freshmen are effective beginning in the fall term immediately following acceptance. Should the recipient choose not to enroll at 大象传媒 in the term for which they originally applied, there is no guarantee the award will remain available upon later enrollment. The student must re-certify and re-apply for an award in the term in which they will enter 大象传媒.
TE award recipients who interrupt their continuous, full-time enrollment may have their award reinstated dependent on the number of openings at the time of return, however, reinstatement of the award is not guaranteed and is granted only upon appeal to, review by, and approval from the Office Financial Aid and Scholarship.
Students awarded Tuition Exchange must maintain at least a 2.3 grade point average at Detroit Mercy and their parent must continue to be eligible for this benefit at the participating institution.
